Welcome to Daytona State College EMS!

We offer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic courses every semester.

Frequently Asked Questions 


For information on refresher classes, BLS, ACLS classes (etc.), please visit the Institute for EMS Education. These classes are not offered through the EMS department. 


STEP ONE TO APPLY FOR ALL FALL EMS CLASSES: You must be 18 and a high school graduate, or have a GED prior to applying for EMT classes.  If you are applying for Paramedic classes, you must have completed an EMT class within the state of Florida prior to applying.

Accreditation / Approval Information

Standard II.C.Minimum Expectations: PARAMEDIC - Our program Goal is to prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency medical Responder levels.

The Daytona State College EMS Program is approved by the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, as meeting all requirements of Florida Statute Section 401 and Florida Administrative Code 64-J-1 for EMS Training Centers in Florida.

The Daytona State College EMS Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs  (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP)

Daytona State College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate and bachelor’s degrees.
